Hi, I'm Kelly Hon!

Hi! My name is Kelly, and I am the Founder and Executive Director of Behind The Mask Initiative.

A Little About Me

🎓 I am currently a sophomore in high school in New Jersey, and I am passionate about healthcare and medicine.
💉 I am an aspiring CRNA — I want to help patients feel safe during stressful procedures.
🏐 I love playing volleyball! I play on my school's team and a club team.
🧱 I love building Lego sets in my free time.
🍵 My favorite drink is a vanilla matcha.
🌸 My favorite flowers are hibiscuses and baby's breath.
📐 Biology and chemistry are my favorite subjects.

Why I Started BTM

When I was trying to make a decision as to what field I wanted to go into, I kept coming back to healthcare. But the more I researched, the more I realized that I did not know what most healthcare careers actually looked like. Nobody was explaining them in a way that made sense to a teenager trying to plan a future.

So I created Behind The Mask. I wanted to create the resource I wished I had — one that introduces students to real healthcare careers, real clinical realities, and real professionals willing to share their stories. I would never want someone else to feel lost as they are trying to explore healthcare!
